Hi babe you will score good these guys are just enjoying ..making fun before results declare.A KIND OF STRESS RELIEF..no one can say right about the scores..may be topper get 100 marks no matter ..they have exceptional scores..e.g if he gets 98 then ..there will be 2 rank on 87.33 marks ..drop in marks is sudden taking from toppers marks ..but after 10th rank ..score will be any where btwn 65 70…one may get call from bhel at 49 marks ..bcoz BHEL is going to call upto 1800 rank …IOCL will call upto 800 rank or 700 rank..NTPC will call upto ..400 ranks..!!..topper will have the choice to go Anywhere.

this year GATE 2012 MECHANICAL paper was cancelled because paper was leaked at this time and that is the reason people are getting 98 99 numbers so don’t be panic but stay calm and relax …they will announce another date for exam (balaji ,rishi,rahul might got the leaked paper so curse them )

I have apeared in mechanical.
From made easy topper scoring 85 marks. I dnt think that anybody score more then 90.
And this year above 50 marks surely under 2000 rank and iit.
Have i hav analysis 2012 and 2011 mech paper.
In 2011 40 marks quest easy 39 mark quest moderate and 21 marks quert. were easy.
Bus this year only 29 marks quest easy 42 marks moderated and 29 marks tuff quest.
So u can easily call this paper tuffer then 2011.
And 1 more thing. This year thermal only 6 marks and tom only 4 marks. Is was unaspected.
There was 8 marks M.D. And 6 marks RAC.normaly students leaved md n rac.
So this was unaspecting paper.

Ok honestly..This year paper was moderate ..comparing the paper of last year 81000 more would have appeared this time ..obviously toppers have exceptional score it could be between 80-90..but the average score for which you’ll get a call from PSU ..will defntly between 50 t0 70 …NTPC will have the highest range in between which it is going to call this time..could be 65 to topper marks..But still leave NTPC IOCL And BHEL is going to call all the candidates above 55 marks …BHEL has 550 seats then it may drop to 50..no matter 70 is a damn good score fetch call from all the PSU’s..!!

did u attempt dat Q in which thermal coeff of material was given and youngs modulus E also… strain was asked? did u take alpha as linear coeff or volumetric?? it was nt clr in Q..
friend thermal coefficient is ways taken as linear……what was confusion in it

it was 3 in the denominator because of basic relation of bulk modulus and poisson ration this is given in ramamuruthum book if u can see

GATE 2012 paper was tough as compared to GATE 2011 but it was easier as compared to GATE 2010 because i have appeared in both the year 2010 and 2011 …and according to me cut of marks will be 25-30 ..and higest marks will be around 80-85..
aur ye jo 90 -95 bol rahe hai unhone shayad apni marking wale marks nahi jode honge…kyuki aaj tak itne marks gate me aaaye hi nahi…yaar gate halua nahi hai ..gate ka bhi kuch standard hai..last year paper itna easy tha tab to higest 88 marks tha..
aur mere last year 44 marks par 4000 ranks thi ..to iss bar kuch low hi jayega cut off..iss bar mere marks48.66 aa rahe hai .. i m expecting with in 2000 rank..

those who are telling 70+ marks please deduct 15-20 marks as these many marks are still disputed it means 70 is 55 ,77-57, and 80-60 so i think you will be happy to know your highest 70-75 and again all the things are going to repeat as 2010

exactly… unexpected and computational questions from MT make all difference this yr… but nobody is saying this…only dey r babbling easy paper easy paper.. u r right 75 may b the highest… did u solved dat drilling question.. time of drill was asked in dat Q.. i found that various coaching insti givin diff ans… what u say??
no ,i didn’t solved that one but i have doubt in 42 ques set A of mechanical
RR.. that drilling question was the easiest… many would confuse between 32.4sec and 35.1 sec.. but clearly it is mentioned through hole… which means total length L=(thickness +2mm+2mm+ 0.3d) … this 0.3d is for the through hole spec…. u can check sites…
One important thing which the question setter expects from student is the ability to think logically… for example take this problem…. they have clearly mentioned through hole…and drill angle is 118 so the tool lower triangle height is h=(7.5mm * cot 59) = 4.5mm.. so total distance covered by tool is L = (50+2+2+4.5)=58.5mm
not time taken t=(58.5*60)/(500*0.2)=35.1… and spot on.. thats the right answer…

currently i watch the basic facts in coaching answer
the difference in marks including negative in made easy and engineers institute of india also you can compare any other coaching is 30-35 (look at it) it means if you attempt all question then you are getting 100 suppose in case of made easy and 65 in case of engineers institute or other coaching .
no probs GATE paper was tougher than 2010 and toughest than 2011. I myself was bit confuse during paper closest answer and what i think is 75 max is highest because of unexpected MT questions and design questions also no one can say about number of mechanical gate applicants if it is consider as rumours.

Believe me… ive attended gate since 2010.. this is my third attempt…. i have nothing to hide….. this year many of my friends are getting 75+….and paper was easy and Tricky.. but not tough as that of 2008 set by IISC…
Let me tell u the truth….people who score high marks… never post their marks online…they know their calibre…they will be preparing for interviews rather than paying attention to bogus sites posting wrong solutions…ive seen it..last year paper was easy man scored 60+
but this year paper was same as last years(easy) except it was tricky….you could easily loose marks…. or easily score high…Wait till March 2nd to 5th…ocr sheets will be uploaded…. then u will get it..

@ nikunj.. i dont agree wid u?? anyways hw much u r scoring this yr… what do u expect for ME topper.. i think it is around 75… i felt this yr paper was difficult as compare to 2011. .sth similar to 2010.. so this yr 70+ is very good score..! good luck guys.
I think mechanical paper was tough compare to 2010, 2011 .Those who think its easy might be topper getting 70-80.
And minimum cut of doesnot depend on number of students ..it is the minimum qualifying marks

For mechanical gate 2012 was very easy.So cut off may be 30+ for obc & 32+ for general.
However this is my personal opinion because pre-final year students were not appeared in exam,so logically cut off should increase.

kalyani yeh score fare hai is baar koi IIT mein admission nai lega aur sab PSU mein jaa rai hain soo..logically 20.33 cutoff ke irade se ..IITK mil sakti hai..apply kar dena yaar
